Are you a STEM instructor wanting to integrate more ethics into your classroom?
Are you looking to challenge your students with the real-world complexities of science and technology?
SCi partners with institutions and instructors in the Boston area and beyond to integrate our ethics, policy, and science communication curriculum into existing STEM graduate curriculum. SCi offers comprehensive lesson plans that instructors can use immediately in their classrooms. We also work with partners to tailor curriculum to specific student needs and learning objectives. No matter the partnership, SCi always seeks to foster collaborative relationships rooted in sustained support and open communication.
ONLINE RESOURCES
GENE DRIVE SIMULATION
This simulation allows students to examine the ethical considerations of developing gene drive technology. The classroom package includes instructor guides and all necessary materials to provide an immersive learning experience in which students grapple with the real-world complexities of ethical decision-making.
CRISPR ONLINE LEARNING MODULE
This learning module is designed to reveal the ethical complexity of biomedical research. This module contains a simulation where you will play the role of a scientific researcher developing CRISPR-based therapies and be forced to make choices about your research agenda and how to engage with the public.
CLASSROOM CODE OF CONDUCT
The success of class discussions and the learning experience as a whole requires classrooms to adhere to a common set of guiding values and expectations rooted in respect and open-mindedness. These guidelines are laid out in the SCi Classroom Code of Conduct document, which can be used for both simulation and module course applications.
